This too shall pass!

Warrup, WarrupJ

How are you today? Oh how I miss you. Your silliness. Your brilliance. Your friendship. Just you. I miss you soo much.
I remember our last conversation on Thursday night, you made me laugh so hard- I asked if you were going to use public means for your little niece’s christening and you recall what you answered? Hehehe…i am still laughing! I miss you, get better already!

Today you left for Nairobi, I know you are strong, you will do wonders and come back home all well. My family sends you get-well-soonest wishes! Like you always said, this too shall pass. Indeed.
You make my days John, please pull through this asap. I need you.

All my love.

You are stronger than this my love!

You are so much like your Dad, my God! Humble, brilliant in every way!

I didn’t check on you today though. I am here in hospital too. My niece is not well either, so we’ve been admitted. As I write this, I am watching her fourth drip get done. I know just like you, she will beat this.
You always make nights like these very light for me. Make me laugh so hard, stay up with me. I wish I could do the same for you sweetheart.
Guess I can only keep cheering you on to push harder and let’s beat this illness hands down!!

I know you are stronger in all ways my love and like you always tell me, this too shall pass.

Talk to you tomorrow…Mwaaaah!Love you forever.

God never performs His greatest feats in your yesterday!

Recently my hands landed on one of those E.L James’ books, the first one of the trilogy. I had searched for this particular one for a while and had given up. On one of my errands while I waited for a client over lunch, comes a guy selling books, movies, discs all this in a suitcase (what he carried was wayyy bigger than a briefcase) and there, there was my 50 Shades of Grey! Now the search for Darker and Freed continuesJ…anyone??

I hooked myself up with a few more books, among which, is what I want to share with you today as we go about our everyday. I know from time to time, we all need someone to stop you and say, hey! It is well, God’s gatchuJ
One of my favorite men in the world-Joel Osteen, what a wonderful, wonderful man of God he is! Among his titles-Become a Better You. I know what you are thinking; yeah…yeah one of those self righteous books-Juice yourself slim in 3 days, Billionaire in 1 day…Blah, blah!! No my dear, Become a Better You is simply reminding you of how much potential you are full of, all you have to do is keep stretching to the next level…

I’ve discovered that God likes to outdo Himself. He wants to show His favor in your life in greater ways today than He did yesterday. He wants you to be more blessed tomorrow than you are today. He intends for you to have a greater impact on the world than you have had. That means if you’re a teacher, you haven’t taught your best lesson yet. If you are a businessperson, you haven’t negotiated your best deal yet. If you are a builder, you haven’t built your best home yet. It’s time to get your hopes up; enlarge your vision and get ready for the new things that God has on the horizon. Your best days are not behind you. They are in front of you.

But if this going to happen, we have to keep pressing forward, stretching ourselves. Get rid of low expectations. Don’t make little plans for your life. Don’t have little dreams. Don’t go around thinking, everybody gets good breaks except me. I’ve reached my limits. I’ll probably never get this promotion. I don’t know why I am not as talented as that person.

No, get rid of that defeated mind-set. You are a child of the Most High God. God has breathed His life into you. He planted seeds of greatness in you. You have everything you need to fulfill your God given destiny. God has already put in the talent, the creativity, the discipline, the wisdom, and the determination. It’s all in you!

Joel Osteen-Become a Better You.

ohh this tongue!

‘’Hey Jim!’’ called out a colleague, ‘’Thank you so much for the invite, the party is sure rocking! Though it has very strange & weird people…like that woman over there, Hahaha, she is the definition of weird!’’

‘’That woman over there is my wife.’’ Jim stated.

The Bible tells us about the tongue – Proverbs 18:21 says what you say can mean life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded.
Even in the book of James which mainly guides us on how to live as good Christians, Chapter 3:1-12 talks largely about the tongue. I think it is especially Verses 6 & 8 that tell us the dangers of this tongue; 6The tongue is like a fire. It is a whole world of evil among the parts of our bodies…it starts a fire that influences all of life. 8…it is wild and evil and full of deadly poison.

I admire people who know how to hide their feelings…people who pretend to be ok when razors are cutting away at heart or as the Bible puts it; people who speak with care or people who do not speak at all. I respect these people. Then here comes yours truly, who will not hold back anything…but say it as is at that moment. No sugar coating whatsoever.

I have not been serving, sharing or reaching out to others for some time now because, the universe brought into my life an amazing individual. It is true time is indeed a blink of an eye when you are having so much fun and before I knew it; no more church, I cannot remember the last time I knelt down to pray, or listened and encouraged someone in my church circles.

I like this amazing individual in every way but we both knew it was wrong right from the start. So because of this, I couldn’t continue serving my God. I knew a day would come when I had to choose between God & my amazing individual!
And I did. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the heart to face my amazing individual but I spoke down my heart and sent it through. I do not know if I spoke with care, I do not know if my words were not full of deadly poison. Nonetheless, I do not know if my amazing individual can ever forgive me. Tambura.

There are moments in life no matter with how much care you may speak, the words will still cut deep into someone’s heart or bring tears down their face; an apology from the bottom of thy heart may not cut it either. There is damage.
And it is this same tongue that glorifies the Lord, that compliments, that encourages, that builds egos, that does so much good…
But in the end, do good and bad water flow from the same spring? Can a fig tree make olives or can a grapevine make figs? Hmmm.

Thank you!

My only Father,
I cannot thank you enough for your everyday Goodness and Blessings that surround me, my family, my friends and everything else that is dearest to me.
Thank you Father. Thank you.
Forgive me Father, for sometimes humanity takes the better of me and I question your closeness to me, your love for me and your favor upon me. Forgive me for the things I do, I think, I say and have not, that do not glorify you Father. Forgive me. I want nothing but to live in your ways… Grant me the calmness to accept the things I cannot change, the courage and faith to wait upon you and the wisdom to know and embrace what is right for me.
Father I come to you today with gratefulness! I cannot believe I am going to sit those Exams! Acing them is obvious (You promised me this alreadyJ) but sitting for them was like a dream! It was not easy at all! I want to thank you sooo much for the friends that you made for me…Please continue to Bless the works of their hands.
Also Father, this I will thank You forever. The gift of life, the lightness of being a beginner again…Ninye oha? Thank You so much my Lord.
May Your favor and goodness continue to surround all my loved ones…You know, I would not live even a single day without You in them. Thank You for being the greatest Father that you are you to me! I love you.
All this I have prayed through the Mighty name of Jesus Christ our Savior! Amen & Amen!
Your loving child, theSchudent.

being christian....

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ That a
man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say...'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,'
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say.... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

I will sing...

Lord You seem so far away
A million miles or more it feels today
And though I haven't lost my faith
I must confess right now
That it's hard for me to pray
But I don't know what to say
And I don't know where to start
But as You give the grace
With all that's in my heart

Chorus:
I will sing I will praise
Even in my darkest hour
Through the sorrow and the pain
I will sing I will praise
Lift my hands to honor You
Because Your Word is true
I will sing

Lord it's hard for me to see
All the thoughts and plans You have for me
But I will put my trust in You
Knowing that You died to set me free
But I don't know what to say
And I don't know where to start
But as You give grace
With all that's in my heart.

...Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen.

Where are you my Father? Where are you?

My Joy-River, have you forgotten me? You know without you I am a sad wretched being in this silly life. It is You that gives me reason to breathe, it is You that holds my hand, guides and leads me to the fresher grass…right now I am stuck in not even dried but no grass. I need you most Father!
Once again I feel I am drowning, I want to sleep and not wake up ever, abandoned is how I feel. I know being with you is the best thing, take me or take this cup of failure, self pity, depression and every bad thing that i feel away my Jesus!
My father, I am your child and you made promises upon my life! Why do I feel forgotten, abandoned? You said you would give me hope and a great future. Am I giving up too soon? Come to me Father, Come to me….so that I may Pray and You will listen, come nearer, so I may search for you with all my heart and I may find you, to tell me what to do when I am stuck like now. Father, I need you…. Not tomorrow, today!
I love You Lord and my Faith in you is as strong, I only awoke feeling alone, a big failure, like I pray and you don’t hear me. Come upon me my Jesus, Hear me when I pray….i am nothing, you only can make me someone and only You can turn my silly life into something!.
I am sorry my Father that I get moments like these that put my faith to test. I am sorry my Father that I am focusing on my prayer requests and forgetting the many, many Blessing that You have spoken upon me, my family, my friends and everything dearest to me. I thank you my Lord endlessly for the answered and the unanswered prayers.  Father, I am here and in your time, May all that I have Prayed and fasted for, with your mercy and grace come alive in my life today!  Amen & Amen.
Pheww...i feel so much better already!

How Can I Know God's Will?

There is an old story preachers tell about a man trapped on the top of his house during a flood or hurricane or tsunami (insert your own natural disaster). The water is swiftly rising. As this man sits on his roof, fearful of being swept away by the current, he cries out to God, “God please deliver me.”
A few moments later, a farmer friend arrives with his boat. “Hey, friend, want a ride to safety?” he asks.
“No,” replies the man on top of his house. “God is going to deliver me.”
An hour later, the water is up to the gutters. A voluntary rescue person comes by on his yellow raft. “Hey, let’s get you off of there—and on to safety,” he yells.
But the man on top of his house refuses to go. “God is going to deliver me.”
Another hour passes and now the water is halfway up the roof. Roof Man is now on top of his chimney, nervously looking down at certain death and destruction.
Fortunately, a Red Cross volunteer swings by in a canoe and offers to ride Roof Man to safety. But Roof Man refuses. “No, God is going to deliver me.”
A couple of hours pass by and the water sweeps over the top of Roof Man’s house. He is carried away by the current and drowns. When he gets to Heaven, he meets Jesus and says, “I thought you were going to deliver me?”
Jesus looks down at Roof Man and says, “I sent a boat, an inflatable raft, and a canoe—but you refused each one.”
We’ve all heard this story and every time we hear it, we laugh, right? But quite often this is the story of our attempts to discern God’s will.
I know all of us have said, “I just want to do God’s will.”
This is good. I wish more of us would surrender themselves to God’s plan for their lives.
But quite often we folks act as if God’s will is some sort of vague, hazy thing or a vapor that can’t be grasped. It’s almost as if we want God’s Will, but don’t ever think we’ll have a shot at actually finding it.
It really doesn’t have to be this way. Here are two truths that should change the way we think about God’s will:
(1) It is Satan who wants us to be confused, directionless, and ineffective.
(2) It is God who has a preordained plan for us, who has given us specific steps, and who wants to see our lives matter.
So, knowing those truths, how do we wrap our arms around that seemingly mysterious thing called, “God’s will?” Here are four concrete ways in which God speaks to us:
1. God speaks through circumstances.
It’s funny, Christians routinely blast atheists and atheism, but we often act as if there is no God. We complain about the uncontrollable events in our lives as if we’re just here by chance, left to sort life out on our own.
But life isn’t dog-eat-dog. God is in charge of this world. God is in charge of our little world. And the events that He allows—getting fired from a job, meeting a future mate, getting rebuked by a pastor or Christian leader, the family we were born into, the town in which we live, the skill sets, talents, and gifts we possess—are all part of God’s divine blueprint for our success.
None of this happens by chance. God is not up in Heaven pounding his fist against his head saying, “Whoops, I really messed up with TheSchudent.” No, God didn’t mess up. God didn’t’ make a mistake. God isn’t ever caught by surprise.
So you can do one of two things. You can continue to live as the world lives. You can stick to the motto, “Life is random, you get out of it what you make of it, I can’t help the way I am.” Or you can embrace your life—your life right now—as God’s will.
Yes, what happens to you is out of your control, it is God’s will for your life.
2. God speaks through opportunities.
Remember the guy with the boat? God presented to him opportunities and he refused them. A few years ago, I had a friend who constantly agonized over every decision or every opportunity and wondered, “Is this God’s will?”
Meanwhile, God presented him opportunity after opportunity. He wanted to get married, but no other girl was good enough. Oh, but he didn’t say that. He said really good spiritual things like, “It’s not God’s will.” Oh yeah? Did you talk to anybody about it? Did you pray about it? Did you ever consider that this could be an opportunity to explore?
And on and on it went with this friend. A dozen job opportunities were presented, but he never pursued any of them. He hemmed, hawed, quoted a lot of Scripture verses, but never made a move.
Recently, I had lunch with him. And even though he has held down a job and even gotten married (finally found Miss Right but he doesn’t think so), he is still in that pondering, hemming and hawing stage. I fear that at the end of his life he’ll be like Roof Man and God will say, “I brought along this opportunity and that opportunity and you refused to take them.”
God works through open doors and opportunities. It’s that simple. These are not just “lucky” occurrences. If we want to do God’s will, my Pastor usually says, “Go. Do something and God will direct you.”
3. God Speaks Through Spiritual Counselors and Mentors
This is where most of us slip up. We live alone-ranger Christianity and refuse to listen to wise spiritual counselors. I believe that God’s plan for the Christian in this age is through the local church. Every believer should not only be a part of a local church, but should voluntarily put himself under the accountability of that church.
Now, for we the young folks, this is a tough swallow. Why should I let any pastor or anybody control my life? But the truth is this. The Bible talks over and over about the value of wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to make good decisions, spiritual decisions, and God-honoring decisions.
But we don’t have a lot of wisdom. That’s why we need to sit at the feet of our trusted lay-leaders, parents, pastors, mentors, etc.  Seek their wisdom. Seek their accountability. Seek their unbiased opinion. A wise person will take such advice as God speaking to them. That is God’s will.
4. God's Will is revealed in God's Word.
How basic but how true. The fact of the matter is this: 99% of what God wants to you to do in your life is spelled out in His Word. And here’s a news flash for you. God is not going to mysteriously lead you to do something that contradicts His Word.
These are just a few of many areas where the Bible touches our lives, where God’s Word is revealed to us in simple, concrete, direct language. And you and I can’t escape it.
Quite often, Christians try to blend their own sinful lifestyles with the teachings of Scripture and then they wonder why they can’t ever seem to discover “God’s will for their lives.” But unconfessed sin keeps you from closeness to God.
It’s not that God expects us to be perfect. But are you honestly living for him, seeking him, and doing your best to obey his commandments?
If so, guess what, pinch yourself, you’re in God’s will.
